Brain Fog
Brain fog is a term that is often used to describe the cognitive changes during menopause. It is common for women to notice changes in their concentration, focus and memory, and may find themselves searching for words constantly on the tip of their tongue.
This can be distressing, with women worrying about their performance at work, losing confidence and often worrying they have dementia.
Oestrogen is important to the way the brain functions, in terms of its energy levels, chemical messengers and sleep.
Managing brain fog can be helped by lifestyle changes; eating a nutritious diet, adequate hydration, exercise and getting enough sleep are vital for brain function. Replacing hormones can have quite a dramatic effect on these symptoms also, if suitable.
